Senate Finance Committee Healthcare Vote — Real Health Care Reform

Senate Finance Committee Healthcare Vote

The Senate Finance Committee just approved the Baucus bill, effectively voting to raise health insurance premiums on most Americans. Wow!

A lot of people in Congress have never been in business, and are seemingly pretty clueless to how it all works.

But business owners get it. A poll in December found that 73% believed health care costs will increase if health care reform legislation is passed. And that was before the latest changes.

Anybody who has the slightest clue how insurance works also gets it. Currently, you are unable to get insurance on a burning building. You are unable to insure a car after it has been totaled. But this time, its different. Have that heart attack, then get health insurance. Yeah, sure, that’ll work.

There is still a ways to go before this becomes law. It will be interesting to see the verbal contortions and denial of reality, as they try to pass a bill that will actually cost us all a lot more money.

Help me understand this? The next presidential election will be in 2012, and the start of the next 4 year presidency will start in 2013. Wouldn’t you think we would want the current president accountable before a possible 2nd term would start? I could be missing something here, but thats my initial impression. Then again, I would imagine there will be some changes in the current proposal.

I’m probably thinking too radically, but maybe not.

    Hi Chris,

I think that the public will wake up to the serious problems with this non-solution before it even goes into effect. I hope so.
